Report:After hearing reports of a few Tope being caught of Greystones, myself and Smack decided to launch the boat dis morning and headed to Bray Head to get our Mackerel for the day. Then headed down to the Breaches bouy, and started our drift back north. 30 minutes in and bang, Smack's reel started to sing that sweet sound of a screaming reel. Short while later we had a beaut of a female Tope in the boat. Unfortunately I forgot to bring tags with me, we measured her and got a few pics. (Dont know how to upload pics) Then released to watch her swim away strongly. She measured in at 1550 x 607mm. That's just 50mm short of specimen length

the lenght based formula put her at apprx 44lb. Fine fish.

We did the drift another two times only picking up the odd dog. Then decided to head in close to the coast to try for a few species and managed a few Tubs & Grey Gurnards. All in all an enjoyable day cant wait to get out again.
