Report:well as some of you know i have been chasing species for the boat species hunt. things were getting more difficult as time was going on,I went after a few species earlier on in the year that would show from time to time but with no luck.
a species count was done last week that left my boat on 29 so a plan was hatched and my target was a 5 beard rockling to make up 30, went out on christmas eve for what i taught was going to be my last trip of the year with the way the weather was going fished a few hours of darkness and not one rockling to show from an area that i would normally get them from, from the shore

so went home dissapointed but not beaten yet.
i had a look at the way weather was going over christmas and i seen there might be a brake on thursday,so off i went on stephens day to dig a few fresh worms for the last shot i wanted to have as much in my favour as i could

planned to launch on thursday about 1.30 on a dropping tide and search around for an odd bonus fish before it got dark, made a phone call har wasn't ready to go

so missing the tide i decided to go out when i had planned to be coming in at about 8pm,I hooked the boat up and left house at 7.30 arrived at slip to be met with a bit of swell coming up the slip, launched and headed out of the harbour to meet a sea with a swell but no white tips, headed out to the mark and geared up the rods with a variety of baits i used two rods with 3 hooks each, after an hour still no fish i was begining to lose heart until i got a bit of a rap on my second rod gave it a few minutes and reeled in to a fish nodding away, praying it wasnt a whiting, under the headlight a fish breaks the surface and to my delight i hit the jackpot with a nice sized 5 Bearded Rockling

pics taken and lines up was called Mission Accomplished.
