Galway Bay 23/10/12

Postby Peter Kinsella » Wed Oct 24, 2012 8:11 am

People: Self only

Duration: 0900to 1300 hrs

Tide: Rising

Weather: Dull, easterly breeze

Bait: Mackerel

Rigs: Feathers, pirk with mackerel tipped muppets

Results: Mackerel, pollack. cod, ling, haddock and pout.

Weather window looked good, time allowed, so out I went. Plenty of mackerel about, mostly joeies. Moved to rough ground and found fish aplenty. Cod's stomachs were full of crab. Big numbers of gannets feeding. In fact, have never seen so many as this. Ling for dinner. Work today.

SPB- Had ling for the first time last year after we had a few from the reefs round Cahersiveen in Kerry. Not may favourite fish to eat (bit of an after taste) as i was expecting a cod like taste....... Hope yours are nicer on the pallet :D
