People: me, Nik, Tim, petekd and some kids at various points
Duration:14.30-20.00 and 09:30-19:00
Tide: slack tides, all states
Weather: balmy and calm
Bait: razor, crab, launce, whiting (we were that desperate), mackerel
Rigs: all sorts
Results: Ling, Cod, Pollock, Plaice, Dab, Red Gurnard, Grey Gurnard, Launce, Whiting, Poor Cod, Cuckoo Wrasse, Coalies, Doggies, Blonde Ray, octopus
Report: Had to take advantage of the weather so we bundled off for a trip out to the Lings the first day. No tide and no wind made for very slow drifting, so catches were down, plus our bait was a bit non-existent, although we were catching stuff on the whiting. Good few big pollack, the usual plague of cuckoos and a few ling out on rock. The odd bits and pieces off the lings at some of our other marks. Few cod in the harbour on the way back.
Nice enough day on the Sunday, fished the harbour in the morning where I seemed to be able to catch plaice almost at will, which was an unusual occurrence. Whiting and dabs thrown in for good measure. Thanks to Donal Domeney for a shout out to us, who put us onto a shoal of Launce about 150yds from our drifting position, nice fresh bait...Headed back out to the lings and environs in the afternoon, Slow enough again, nothing much of note few cod around north of the rocks. Headed back to the harbour and anchored up, with some dabs, whiting, dogs and a very welcome blonde ray which capped off my day nicely and finally proved to Pete that they do exist! Razor seemed to be the bait of the day as far as the flats were concerned, but we were getting fish to everything really.
