Report:
Was invited down for a trip out of Portaferry with jeremy again this year in Gala week.
We left the port around 1400 and headed out to the Barr mouth.
We feathered for mackerel for bait and got plenty with a few sandeels mixed in.
We then steamed off to the wreck where we anchored up on top of it.
First drop and I pulled up 5 pollock, all around 3-4lb.
Everybody else was doing the same.
The pollock were mixed in with mackerel and it was full houses for the next half hour with a combination of both species.
A few codling came up but were all small.
then the pouting came on the feed and there were plenty of them caught.
After the 1st hour the fishing started to slow so we baited the feathers and let the baits sit out.
Jeremy then pulled up a male and female cuckoo wrasse on the same feathers.
He was admiring the male cuckoo stating it must be near a specimen when I reeled in one around 1/2lb bigger (pic below).
The fishing died off as the tide slackened so we packed up and headed home.
A great days fishing with a great skipper and some mighty craic!!
A big thanks to Jeremy for the invite.
