Fished aboard John Deveraux & Dick Hayes boats on Saturday. The weather was good, calm sea's but a chilly light wind (Sundays forecast was to be gales and heavy rain, looks like the calm before the storm). We had the usual collection of baits, Ragworm/Peeler Crab/Squid and Frozen Mackeral. Fishing started well with Cod being the main species being caught, Jimmy Adamson aboard the Enterprise caught a lovely 8.5lb Cod while Bert McGregor aboard the Celtic Lady II caught a specimen Ballen Wrasse of 5.5lbs.
Cod and Pollack were the main catches of the day with the following species also taking the baits: Ballen Wrasse, Cuckoo Wrasse, Ling, Coalfish and Pouting.
One surprise of the day was one single Mackeral taking a hook only to fall off just as it was about to be landed.
Overall not a bad days fishing with Ragworm and Crab being the baits to use on the day. An improvement on our last outing and looking good for our future ones.
