People:Me and three others

Duration:8.30am to 3pm

Tide:Not sure

Weather:Northwest F4 in morning before going F4-5 south west around lunch. Chilly in the morning

Bait:Mackerel

Rigs:Various

Results:Pollock, dogfish, mackerel, pouting, poor cod, ling, cuckoo wrasse

Report:Had a very poor days fishing in Donegal Bay today, desperate it was. There was pollock about but my god they were desperately small, biggest made maybe 4lb. I hadn't fished some of the reefs that we visited today for five or six years but in the meantime the average size of the pollock has crashed. I was really saddened to see it, used to be any amount of 4lb to 5lb fish but most of what we caught today was no bigger than 2lb :( .

Spent a good bit of time on the sand after flats but for three hours all we had to show was three or four dogs. Only good thing was the abundance of mackerel at the new pier in Killybegs. Fishing under the discharging fishing boats we got plenty. After today I was hankering for my own boat or even a bit of shore fishing again :!:
