Cristmas madness is over and i had a chance to get out and try to catch few fish.Nearly 3 hours drive from my house and i am at Youghal.Hoping to get few codling or anything at all.warm enough night and very little weed.crabs where striping fish baits in seconds so i had to use crab as a bait and nearly all fish where caught on peeler crab.rod with 2 hook flapper - nothing special.Busy night with good few fish.sizes could be bigger but i think I shouldn’t complain too much.pictures will talk themselves.tight lines.

An interesting night out! One easy way to tell a dab from a flounder; run your fingertip from tail to head. If it feels rough it's a dab while a flounder is smooth. I wonder is that salmon returning to the sea after spawning?

Next time you drive down that way, have a lash in Whiting Bay, just round the left headland in last pic. Used to be a great spot for late season bass, I once had a 9lber there just a few days before Xmas.
