Mulranny Pier, 29th December 2018

Wed Jan 02, 2019 1:47 pm

Took my middle lad and his buddy down to the pier to escape the cabin fever.
HW was 12 noon which was not ideal, got there as its started to ebb, and there was a nice SW blowing...
I was hoping to try out some new lures purchased for small change off Ali Express.

Result was two coalfish, one decent and close to a kilo, the other barely out of nappies.

Mulranny has become very shallow, even if it was not a big tide. We took the coalfish off the end of the pier casting almost out towards Croagh Patrick.
They fell to 25 gram and 30 gram SeaPesca lures - I had four colour varieties, but the green and silver worked best. Cast a long long way on braid.

Recommended. Cheap as chips, buying a load for next year.

Wetting mist rolled in and almost we drove off hoping to find a break, we didn't.
$££$%"$%$^"!£$%%^&& Mayo weather for you.
Still nice to get some fresh air.

Wont bother you with photos as a coalfish in Mayo in winter is no shakes...

Just search for SeaPesca in the site and you will find them. All great value, will report on whether the crankbaits work later.
