Greystones 29Sept, ID reqd please

I got out to Greystones beach on Saturday for 3.5 hours as the tide was coming in. I had black lug and sand eels for bait. I also tried some spinning and throwing some feathers out. These didn't produce anything. I had a bit of success with the baited rod. First up was a decent mackeral about 25-30mm. The second was a decent flatty but I'm not sure on the exact ID. It was one of the better fish I've ever caught so I'm happy. It was the last of the day. A part from plenty of crabs taking bait.

Nice job!! That's a Flounder, beautifully marked, lovely colours and on it. And great to hear that Mackerel are being caught. Well done

The Dab: if you rub from the tail to the head it has rough skin.

The Plaice: has bony lumps on it's head

The flounder: has a rough area on the lateral line before the head
