JoeBrady88 and I.
Time: 6pm - 1am
Bait: Crab (Live and dead) - ragworm - LugWorm.
Conditions: very windy and a nice chop on the water. Wind eased off later on.
Results - some Wexford silver.
It was decided that we'd hit a new spot, had heard some good reports. Hit the road from Dublin.
I got set up for about 6pm, joe was to follow at 7pm. High tide was due at 11pm.
Night started off with me having a nightmare - bought a rod stand (won't say where) about a month ago, it wasn't able to handle the wind at all, screws fell out - absolute disaster. Luckily Joe is a bit of a handyman - was put back together(ish) but was would only hold one rod.
Anyway, first few hours were quiet, then joe had a we knock and pulled into a schoolie. Excitement ensued as we knew they were around!
A few moments later my rod took a nice rattle - hooked into a nice wee bass.
After that came the fun. Joes rod went 90 and he hooked into a beaut, big bend in the rod. In came this beauty.
Again a few moments later, my rod took a huge bang and just as the rod was about to fall over and go down the beach I hooked into something big. Panic ensued when I thought I lost it, joe kept saying - keep reeling!! He was right, fish was swimming towards me. Got him in and was my PB bass (bearing in mind I don't catch them too often - not for the want of trying). Just short of 5lb.
Joe had another beauty shortly after nice bend in the rod again.
What a night. Not another species at all but we didn't care - 5 bass between us.
Great night and will be heading back very soon.
Kris
