People: Myself. The brother-in-law was there for 2 hours
Duration: 14:30 to 20:00
Tide: High tide was 17:00
Weather: A few showers and a slight breeze
Bait: Fresh Lug, Sandeel
Rigs: 2 Hook flapper
Results: Whiting, Codling (PB)
Report: First report hopefully it goes well. Headed to Killiney with the brother-in-law in hope of a few flatfish. First cast i reeled in a Whiting in 2 bits, I presume the crabs had a nibble. For the next couple of hours there was a few small Whiting. The brother-in-law headed home and I continued on in the same fashion, just a few small Whiting.
I had enough bait left for 3 casts so on my third last I stated to get the gear packed up, out of the corner of my eye I could see the rod take a couple of decent knocks so hurried over. As I picked up the rod I could feel something with a bit of weight on the end, presumed it was a dogfish, as I started to reel in it began to put up a decent fight and my mind started to wander (was thinking maybe a double of nice Whiting). The fish broke the surface and to my pleasant surprise on the end of the line was a nice plump Codling.
The last 2 casts I was dreaming of another 2 Codling, but landed a double of Crab and Whiting on both.
I hope the pictures the plump Codling justice, in my excitement and haste to return the fish I never thought of putting something beside the fish to put it into perspective. I'm guessing it was 2+ pound

I have only got 2 Codling before this and they were considerably smaller

Packed the gear away and left an extremely happy angler
