Waterford Rock Mark 23/11/13

Mon Nov 25, 2013 2:18 pm

People:Me fein and 2 buddies

Duration:4 hrs

Tide:Full tide on the drop

Weather:calm

Bait:n/a

Rigs:various shallow diving lures and soft plastics

Results:1 bass 2.5 lbs

Report: Hit the rocky shore mark just after dark, it was relatively calm with the odd moderate swell rolling in to keep you on your toes. Myself and one of the other lads started with shallow divers, which produced a nice looking fish of 3.5 lbs for him within the first hour or so. The third lad was ledgering with bait on the rough ground and had a couple of good strong bites. After 2 hours without a fish i decided to change tactics. I rigged up with a savage gear sandeel slug with a small bullet weight and cast out into the darkness. First cast and fish on! It was a little tricky to land in the darkness with all the rocks to contend with. Eventually got him ashore and he was a very healthy looking bass of about 2.5 lbs 42 cm. That was me happy for the night. I fished on for another hour or two with no more takes, but i didn't mind at all.
