Report: 3of us set off after a days work. We had been on the look out for a new mark and we were getting fed up of standing on a beach getting nothing, so with the new mark found . And the bait got we decided on big baits and heavy gear. Frits cast J was into the wanted species. Conger. Weight about 5lb a small one for there, we think. D was next in line and conger was on but the wave stole it from him on the way in we did get to see it about the same size. I was next in line but my take was very different it shook and dived all the way in. A pollack that weight in at 6lb. Happy days my PB from the shore. So j then got a take and another conger 10lb . Nice. D then landed a nice conger of the same size. His first and I landed 3 more pollack the same size . And a rock ling that was 40cm. We ran out of bait so had to call it a day but what a day for the first time.

Fair play, I noticed the same thing with new places I fished myself this summer, most of which would never have seen rod and line. Its safe to say any of them would out fish the well known marks in North Clare. I noticed that congers are a lot more likely to take in a place where they wouldnt be fished for too. I had a great session at a pier for them a few weeks back and landed 3 over 10lb's, a local lad came down and told me I would catch nothing off there, needless to say I was grinning when the ratchet started clicking :D
