galway rays

Sun Jun 03, 2012 10:24 pm

People: Me and John Tipp

Duration:4.00 til 9.00

Tide:drop

Weather:hazey rain and warm

Bait:mack, squid, sand eel

Rigs:pulley, 2 hook flapper

Results:18 ray, few dogs, mackeral and 1 spider crab

Report:
Headed off to the far west on Thursday afternoon. Got to the mark at about 4.00. Couldnt wait to get a line into the water. After about 10 min or so rod bent over. waited for a minute and struck. Felt a bit of weight and fish pulling back. :D :D Was hoping it was a ray and not a dog. As the fish came up seen the wings flappin. Lovely the first ray of the day. The fishing was fast and furious. We were getting bites every 10 minutes or so. Couldnt believe the amount of fish there. Fished until 9.00 and headed back to the town for some grub and a few creamy guinness. The only complaint about the trip was the poxy midgets eatin me alive. I had a tea towel on me head at one stage to keep them away. Just as well fishing was so good or I would have packed up and gone. Going to bring a bally the next time to cover me head. Will be defo headin back there again in a few weeks time.
