Lough swilly

Thu May 31, 2012 9:19 am

People: me and corbyeire

Duration:3/4hrs

Tide: flooding

Weather: windy to start but settled down later on

Bait:mackerel and sandeel

Results: 3 thornbacks

Report:

i met up with corbyeire at a local mark in the hope we'd get a few fish while in the area. corbyeire was already there when i arrived and was set up and all. we had a brief chat to say hello etc then it was time to get into a few fish.
the wind was bit heavy but at least it was in a good enough direction for a short while - lucky me had a thornie first cast, it was only about 2lb   but nice to see. our rods where not very active at all, we had a few bites but no connections for a while.
we did the usaul and swapped stories and info and it was nice to see an angler not too hung up on great fish but being out that was just enough.
i ended up getting another bigger ray of 4 or 5lb - and corbyeire also got small one to brighten up his evening.
there wasnt one doggie which was unusual for that mark so things where slow - all in all nice to help out a visiting angler and a good nights craic - shame about the fishing.
i'd once again forgotten the camera so apologies for that.

Just as well really, cos we both blanked the evening before!

At least you got him into a fish, I could only get him a follow from a sea trout.

    i blame the winds mate. his ray was mistaken for a flounder which we both found very amusing so i wasnt much more successful
