People:me and my brother

Duration:3 hrs

Tide: rising to ht at half 10

Weather:windy as hell

Bait:rag, sandeel and squid

Rigs:floats, feathers and various

Results: one dog

Report: just a quick report
took my brother fishing for the first time in years for him since he was a kid and decided on something easy so went to the blue pool at the port.

landed there and there was 4-5 others there fishing, and none had any sucess which continued into the evening for them. not a great night as the swell was mental at times and we had to move a few times to avoid the waves. got soaked 3 different times with wave smashing off the rocks and was none to impressed.!

tried spinning, which was a waste of time, floating, which was similar so we stuck to the bottom.

i landed the only fish which was a small doggy. disappointed that we didnt get anything else as i would of loved my brother to get somehting for the evening other than a set of brass monkeys!!

thats a shame your brother didnt get anything
the bluepool is one of my favourite spots, more so for the variety of fish rather than the size of them.
you're right though it a very difficult spot to fish with any kind of swell, make sure to take him back out again on a calm day or even up to the head and get him addicted like the rest of us

aye, it was a bad night to be fair. the leads were being threw all over the place and the grips were even getting tore out with the swell.

still he had never seen a dog fish before and was pretty amazed at it. i asked him if he wanted to go again and he said def so maybe i have converted him back to fishing again!

hard luck man :( :( can be a hairy enough spot to try and fish in a swell :o i'm (thankfully) surprised more people have'nt been swept off there and the point at ramore head during the summer months in past years. we saw one fella running back and forward between crashing waves to cast his spinner at ramore head last summer    totally unbelieveable man :!: days like that we just head off to other marks close by as there are plenty about there to use as a back up when there is a swell running. if you want any pointers, just drop me a pm man  . it will keep you safe and also get you plenty of fish :P

cheers man, i will drop a pm to you, many thanks.

on the note of the people running back and forwards. on tues night there was an aul fella with a young cub spinning, they were standing far to close and then to my horror another 4 landed to stand with him. i kept saying to my brother that hes effin mad t allow so many kids near that edge, esp with the swell starting to get worse with the high tide coming in. at one point i was for shouting over at them to catch a grip allowing so many near that waters edge

thankfully they left. people just dont uderstand how dangerous the sea is. i preached to my brother about my rule of never turning you back to the sea. what did i do, turn my back to fix bait to recast on the stand, turned my back and got completly soaked by a rouge wave behind me. :? serves me right to be fair.
