Rigs: pulley rig with 4/0 hook

Report: I got snagged at Foynes a lot. I lost about 3 rigs. There were a lot of mackerel about disturbing the surface at Foynes and at Glin. Codswollop and I got two very positive bites at Glin just after dark, but that was it. We decided to head home after a difficult but enjoyable session. We learned a lot. Thanks to Nelus for meeting up with us and sharing his information. I hope you took Keane to the chocolate factory!!?

Yeah ditto, cheers Neilus, and we'll defo be back. Very enjoyable. Yeah my bite was very positive alright, I was convinced it was John pulling the line, as he was half was accross the Shannon in his waders(with holes in them). And also thanks to Frodo Baggins for the advice before we went.

Wayne as Sean said there are a lot better marks in the Shannon during October fish on the clare side as the limerick side isnt as good.

I find both venues fish better around low tide. High tide was after 6pm tide tables don't normally get adjusted for summer time but the ones produced by the shannon Foynes port atority do. Foynes trailer park needs darkness or a good wind stiring up the silt for conger. Personelly I find Glin can fish on all tides but is best for ray 3 hours either side of low water and though high water has produced nothing for me this year. Glin can be a tough venue to fish if you don't know it or what you doing go check out Kilteery on the marks web page as its easier to fish. Thats why kilteery is packed with anglers and Glin is empty and why I fish Glin.
