Cross Strand - Co.Mayo

Fished for 4 hours without a bite although the ragworm i was using was pretty much knackered from the boat competition the day before. It really is a stunning looking beach and on first impressions looked really fishy. I'll be back with better bait at some stage this autumn.

Hi

Cross is very fishy but a bugger to fish on account of its sheer size. Most people fish down near the tower, with sea trout the main quarry often on float fished sand eels. Wonderful to hear that a big bass was found there even if it was dead. Lots of seals offshore and on the rocks to the south, may have died of fright. Beach gives us brill in the autumn in darkness.

Shss!!

Its out near Belmullet and is a good drive from anywhere. Beautiful place though, the drive there takes you through miles of bogland - the mate likened it to Siberia! A nice Siberia though.
