Seapoint, Dublin, June 19th

Sun Jun 19, 2011 11:58 pm

People: Me

Duration: 20:00 - 23:00

Tide: Low at 21:00

Weather: Lovely

Bait: Lug

Rigs: Plug/ Three hook flapper

Results: Blank

Report: Just back from fishing seapoint. Got down for 8ish thinking high tide was at 9, but it was actually at 3ish. For those who know the beach its very shallow at low water so i waded out about 250 yards from the center of the beach. I had about 30 fresh lug so started with a three hook flapper. I kept on the move and didn't have a bite all night on the lug. I waded in towards the rocks to left of the beach in the direction of blackrock and switched to a plug at about 21:30. The tide was clearly all wrong for here so again I moved, this time to the very far end of the beach towards the west pier. Twenty yards from where I was plugging I saw a fish of maybe 2 or 3 pounds jumping. There's no river near the beach so I thought bass? I hope it was a bass as this is one of my main target species for over the summer. Anyway I was wrecked at this stage, must have walked 5 or 6 kilometres :? And that's the story of my blank. By the way, if anyone knows what this beach will produce, where exactly on the beach fish are caught and the right conditions I'd be grateful of a PM. I've only caught one bass so far this year on Dublin beaches, and would love to find out if this beach will get me a bass :D

That fish you seen jumping was most likely seatrout as bass don't really jump unless they are chasing baitfish. I have seen big seatrout around the area.

Hard luck on the blank, that mark produces a few fish during the colder months; mostly flounder.
Try the nth Dublin beaches and rock marks if your looking for bass.Portmarnock, Malahide, Donabate, Portrane and both beaches in Rush are marks that produce bass, especially if there's a surf.
