Report:I went to a rock mark and set up the bait rods and after 2hrs without a bite decided to try a beach mark,i decided to have 3 or 4 cast to see if there were any mackerel about before I left and had mackerel on the first cast,I waited at the mark till dark and was going to head for the beach again but the car wouldn't start, spent about a hour trying to get the immobiliser to let the car start, finely got it going and hit for home instead of the beach

great to see the mackerel around still :D

note to self, bring a bigger hammer on the next trip

Hi Gerry,
Great to be catching 30 plus fish in Oct whatever the species. But Mackerel this late, they seemed to be scarce generally around the coast during the year, and August proportions in almost winter???? Seems very strange to me. I assume you were out the north side?

hi blackie yes I was on the north side,it has been a strange year fishing so far,I was surprised to get that amount of mackerel in Oct,I was talking to a local and he said he filled 2 fish boxes from the currach only a short distance from the shore a few days before,I see a lot of sandeel and sprats around still ,hopefully the rest of the winter will throw up a few more surprises
