People: Only me
Duration: 16.30 - 19.30
Tide: Approx an hour after high onwards
Weather: That gross misty rain that gets everywhere!
Bait: Mackerel
Rigs: Simple, sensitive float rig, 6lb line, size 12 hook eventually size 6
Results: 19 mullet, Best just over 3.5lbs, average about 2lbs
Report:Put down a groundbait of 6 cutletted mackerel and fished over that on the dropping tide. Great craic on a quivertip rod. Biggest problem was avoiding the smaller fish. Ended up dramatically upping hook and bait size and that did the trick. The mullet are always there. Just fish at the head of the pier on a dropping tide. Any weather is fine but its obviously nicer in sunshine!

Hey hey!
Bad news first, the green weed situation continues unabated. It effectively leaves many areas off limits but theres still plenty of fishing to be had. If you want to fish within the confines of the village, an hour either side of high and low tide is your best bet. However travelling a little bit means you can leave much of the weed behind.
Now good news. The sea trout fishing is probably the best it has been for many many years. Fish the usual sea trout tactics and you should do well. You won't catch dozens of fish but you'll do OK.
I've probably become an expert on the mullet in Courtmac, unfortunately entirely by trial and much error! Basically, only fish a dropping tide. Only fish from the very end of the pier, looking down the village towards the hotel which totally eradicates any tide issues. Strong possibility I'll be down that weekend cos its my sisters 21st so I'll drop you a line if I am.
