REPORT:Headed to Kilcoole on friday for my first return session to beach fishing after an extended freshwater phase. Kilcoole was clogged with seaweed so we knew this was going to be a tough session. Upon casting the bait was drifting to the left at a rate never witnessed by myself before it was like the sea was saying welcome back its time for some hard work

. After an hour or so the tide calmed enough for us to do some decent fishing and the doggies came pouring in. Caught my first ever Gurnard a decent size too. My Father managed to get two small flats and Codling. We packed up about 7.30 with very sore arms from pulling in the 45tons of weed.
Even though we caught a few fish i was still left feeling dissatisfied due to the amont of weed we caught so i decided to do a small session further south. I rang a few people and was told to head to Ennereilly, somewhere i have never fished before. Got set up on the beach and started fishing about 6.30. Straight away i was getting bites (and no weed) and it wasn't long before i caught my first ever puphound. The fight was brilliant for such a small fish. About an hour later while getting some small bites the rod suddenly hopped on the stand i jumped up and struck and was into my first decent sized hound. The fight was immense and left me with a big smile on my face. I had 3 more pups after this and 2 small pollock. I had another decent sized hound just before i decided to pack up.
All in all a good first session for my return. Even the weed in Kilcoole didn't put me off and i am already planning my next session. Wexford beaches will be my next target as i will be working down there for the next few weeks (

any pointers on wexford beaches would be appreciated

)
I'll have a look at the pictures and post them up later.
