South Beach, Greystones

Mon Jun 20, 2005 10:01 pm

I fished the South Beach in Greystones on Friday evening. I arrived at 18.00 and the weather was fantastic. I caught nothing until 2100 although I had a lot of bites. Altogether I caught 8 Dogfish, 1 Flounder and 1 Whiting.

Does anyone know if there are many crabs around here as my bait was getting stripped of the hook quite regularly.

Hi Murch
I was also on the beach last Friday night, down at the river, caught a similar bag of fish to yourself and also reeled in quite a few crabs  ,Im amazed to see so many dogfish around these days. There was a fella spinning at high tide and pulled in a few Mackerel, nice one!

Hi Richard07

I'm not very familiar with Greystones can you tell me where exactly is the river as I've heard a lot of reports about it

Murch,

Sorry,it's more a small stream than a river ,anyway it's right down the bottom of the south beach, you'll see a clump of trees as you look from the town along the beach and it's right beside that, just walk along the railway track and you can't miss it,supposed too be a good spot for seatrout and seen a few jumping alright.
Good luck, might see you there sometime.
