Dunree & Dunaff Hd - Donegal

Had my first day back at sea fishing last week. Fishing freshwater for last 5 yrs or so.
Going on posts from petekd and irish shamrock i had a spell off the rocks in Dunree Bay.
Was not disappointed landed 4 dogs in a 1 1/2 hr session. Used mackerel and squid. At one stage both rods were banging. Bites were every 5 -10 mins. What other baits/rigs are useful out here? After a while the dogfish are a bit of a pain. I was using paternoster rigs. Is float fishing with worm/crab any good or spinning. I tried spinning for an hour but no joy. Any tips much appreciated. I need to visit the tackle shop to get the sea fishing bag filled up with gear again.

Fished Dunaff Hd yesterday for few hours with outgoing tide. Very snaggy ground. Managed another dogfish with last cast in of the day on mack/squid again. Anyone any tips on preferred bait from this spot.

Found Dunaff very snaggy as well. tried float fishing here but no return. Had a few pollock spinning a jelly eel on lead head. Never tried Dunree yet but will give it a shot some evening as well. Lenan Pier is worth a go, had a few Gurnard and Pollack off there recently. I'm still learning the trade so glad of any advice from Inishowen experts out there!

Leenan is definitely worth a throw - haven't blanked there.

From the pier using rag, mackeral and squid you can get dab, flounder, dogs, gurnard the odd pollack and mackeral.

The rocks on round to the right produce plenty of pollack and mackeral on either spinners or floated mackeral strips, wrasse to worm baits and the occasional sea trout to lures as well.

I was down at Inch pier just over a month ago and one of the fishermen there from the wee boats was telling me a fella lifted 4 salmon spinning from the pier a few weeks ago as well!!!

Culdaff (Bunagee Pier) is another spot worth a cast. Plenty of coalfish and pollack to be caught from the pier, not much size in them though. Apparently there are loads of conger here too but I haven't had a go at them yet. Sometimes you'll see mullet cruising around as well if you have the patience for them. The rocks over to the left will give pollack, coalfish, rockling and dogs.

Fanad head is another good spot. Rocks to the left of the lighthouse are good for pollack to spinners and rag. Apparently there's a way down to a decent mark to the right of the lighthouse but I haven't been able to get down yet. Be careful coz it's a pretty big drop!
