Had to look after the kids today so wandered off to ventry to see the experts at work.Thought it was kicking off at 1pm so got there early but they didn't start off till 2.30pm.This worked out well as i was able to watch them wetting their lines and to have a chat with them.Nice lads, very informative and helpfull and a joy to watch them cast.Kept an eye on Alan Yates to get some hints on casting.I now know the meaning of blasting the lead over the horizon.VERY impressive  .I only stayed for about 45 minutes of the competition but saw doggies, thornback ray,sea trout and flounder being caught.I have never seen such a collection of bait being used.maddies, lug, rag, white rag, mackeral, peelers, sandeel and squid. They will be fishing Inch on Thursday 1-6 pm.Well worth going if you can just to watch and learn where the fish are feeding on the strand.
