Was it delicious really? Im a seafood lover too saw a shoal of them in kerry last month when fishing for mackerel.I must try for them had heard from two different people that they were good eating and that they werent? Lots of them in Kerry this year will try for them I think! I know a few had great fun float fishing with mackerel strips for them but lost a good bit of tackle with their sharp teeth well done up there

im a sea food lover and i was told they were tasty so i ate it just to taste it once. if i catch another 1 it will be released.

Here man, don't feel you have to justify knocking the odd fish on the head for the table. Thats part of the sport. People can post about taking 80 mackerel for bait without adverse remarks yet take one trigger and get a negative comment. Amazing.

BTW - thats not a dig bout taking mackerel - I do the same. A load for eating and a load in the freezer for sea / pike bait ;)

yeah man i know why should i, i release any fish that im not goin to eat. im a real believer in catch and release but your alloud to dabble at 1 or 2 fish that u catch, i think sum people just get a little bit carried away wi the whole thing.

Well done fagan, that is a fantastic fish to catch, I'm very jealous  Great result. I haven't seen or heard of too many of them being reported on or caught, espicially one being caught up here in the North so a big well done to you for that. A trigger is one of the fish that is on my wishlist, I would love to catch one and always thought that I would have to travel miles and miles further south to get one, down to Co.Kerry for example where I know they show most years. It looks like I could get one much closer to home than I thought. Well done again.

no problem taking fish for the plate just some fish, i feel should be given a chance. it would be nice to see a good stock of triggers, getting built up so certainly not taking a dig at anyone.
