Rag and mack will work well, also use some lures or jelly worms on a spinning rod.

If you are using bait - make sure that you use rotten bottoms on your rigs - both marks are a tackle graveyard, although the ledges is not too bad beyond 75 yards.

never really fish the ledges due to the amount of guys who do fish it though it does produce the goods from time to time, if you are targetting the plaice here either use staright rag or tip it with squid strip for best results,

as for garron point, as jude says, if bottom fishing, blast out a one hook clipped rig (pulley best IMHO), baited with sandeel for pollack, dogs or coalies, or rag or lug tipped with mussel or crab for red cod, or mack/rag for general species, there are some decent conger to be had too apparently though ve never tried them - straight mack.stright rag or lug for the wrasse
also try either float or spinning in close for some smaller pollack, it can be good craic while waiting on something bigger on the bait rod on out.ive seen coalie, pollack, wrasse and mullet and rockling taken on float here due to deep water at your feet, also had pollack to 4lb spinning on greenfish lures, some locals swear by spinning with eddystone eels around this part of the coast for the pollack too.

hey gareth...firstly garron point, the big hill on the left hand side of the mark is not to bad on tackle due to the fact that u are high up, this is the area where wrasse can be caught in big numbers with alot of pollock and average sized congers lerk if u fish this part of the mark then i recomend using float gear for the wrasse and pollock....and for the conger running ledgers or pulley rigs with 100lb snoods.....the sub rock and sharks tooth are on the right hand side of garron and this is where the BIG pollock lerk but it is hard to hold bottom cause of the big currents which don't affect the big hill...this area is where spinning is best casue its all big kelp beds sandeel and mac are the best for this area and the hill, rag, mac and sandeel work best...peeler crab doesn't seem to work at garron....there is no real need to blast baits to the horizon cause most fish are close in and its deep water.....pulley rigs are the best rig for this mark altogether with rotten bottom's size 2/0 up to 6/0 depending what ur fishin for

most of the time the fish can come from close on it but sometimes during the slacker periods of the tide it helps to pump it out a bit i find

i agree phil but when it goes slack u just fish for the conger well thats what most of us in the cbarsac except bobby he says its not fishing...but yeah we've had some good pollock at distance :)

on thew few occasions i have fished this mark i have found that it can be fun fishing if you are on your own or with a mate on the high rock platform, if at distance i have found that its a dog a throw at slack, but if using a pulley it acts as a decent deep spinning rig on the retrieve and you can pick up coalis if baited with sandeel on a slow retrieve, if youi dare try it!! :wink:
