Handy 3 Hook Flapper + Rough Ground Rig.

to make a dropper take a 4mm piece of rig tube. pass the shockleader/ trace body through the tubing twice, similar to making a stopper. however do not pull the rig tubing tight. take desired hooklenght with a loop in the end and use the 'loop to loop' knot to add a hooklenght.now keeping everything tight pull both ends of the leader to tighten the silicon. the dropper should now be secure. you can slide the dropper into position on the trace and repeat process to add more snoods. some silicon works better than others. the thick tubing used by boat anglers is best. it takes a decent fish to cause the droppers to slip and they are easily put back into position. * works best with 20lb. line + amnesia and snoods to 10 inches. the beauty is no weakening to trace body by crimps, easily adjusted snoods and the rig can be completely clear. the droppers also stand off the trace body in a boom like fashion, increasing movement- has worked in tough conditions. it is also handy for one hook, disposable, rough ground rigs. you can fish the hooklenght high on the trace to avoid rocks/ kelp and when a good fish takes it the snood slides down below the weight similar to the pulley rig. not a bad idea if i do say so myself! cheers, Mark.

Power gum

A similar Idea is to use 10lb power gum as a stop knot instead of the crimps in a normal paternoster trace. This is especially good off a pier where very long main trace can be used and snoods can be moved up and down depending on what depth the fish are feeding at. The only problem with it being if you catch a larger fish or snag on the top hook it's snood can get tangled in the lower snoods. Replacing only the lower crimp in a one hook paternoster using this method is used in surf fishing much like the pulley rig. I tried the rig tubing method but was concerned that the shock leader would get damaged.

the rig tubing does slightly alter the leader, but i think it's minimal. it does not alter the breaking strain of the line in any way. it's quick and easy. a handy back up in the rig wallet.
