wind direction / weed query

Fri Nov 06, 2015 11:24 am

Hi all,

my query related to wind direction and the resulting weed it can cause to make for a not to pleasant fishing experience.
i was down in youghal recently looking for a cod or two with no luck apart from some doggies and flatties, i then travelled home via ballyteige/furlongs lane near kilmore quay not much doing for me.
On both locations there was lots and lots of weed making the fishing very diffiicult, for future occasions when i am planning a trip specifically to youghal and the south wexford beaches what wind direction should i look out for that will generate alot of weed on the beaches/estuaries and so prevent me from travelling and what wind direction would make traveling more favourable

Many thanks in advance
B-T.

yea you would be safe enough, even if you get a bit of weed you can still fish - the southerly brings the rafts of it

Forgive my ignorance but given that the prevailing winds for the country are South Westerly ?? Down west of Rosslare yesterday despite having read your comment previously....the sea was thundering in and the weed eventually bet me never mind the sea state lol.

if you think about it the southerly gets to kick up around the SE corner there in rosslare - the currents also run north on the fill there - bad combination when its rough
