There are 2 rods on that money that will do job very well and last good rings and all.

First is diawa longbeam 13ft £49.00 sterling
Second is diawa strike force £29.00 sterling

Both from bowlers angling use ask.com for search and easy to find.

I have used and owned both and they are very strong and take abuse. great for newstart or medium the 13ft will help with casting and distance.

For a Nice matching pair I'd say go For a Pair of Shakespear Mustang Beachcasters which are about £20 a Piece, Team them up with Long Cast Fixed Spools which don't cost that much more... 8)

Think I saw one of those in Mid Antrim Angling - if it's the same rod then it had a surprising amount of backbone for a cheapy.

Check out the Ron Thompson range at the Glasgow Angling Centre. They usually have very good deals and you can pick up rods or combos at a really good price. The Glasgow Angling Centre also has reasonable post and package rates.

rods

I started with the daiwa mega force rods and gave to a mate to get started and they still going strong.

got from bowlers they do a spread cheque thing over 9 mnth if you want to keep start up cost down. But they on ebay for as little as 23 sterling.

The longbeam in 13ft f/s is also a good start up rod used one and at this money a good start.

Also look at ron thompson g-force rods got a good write up in sea angler as a budget leavel rod.

I have learnt in my first year that getting started and learning from others more important than brand names. So get out there learn and take advice. As with me let your kit grow as you learn then you will have what you want in no time.

good luck
