hi lads can anybody tell me what bait and rigs are best for whiting ?

sand eel mac strip lug crab they will eat anything in there paths when the large shoals are about will take the bait off any trace my trace of choice would be a 3 hook flapper 2 up 1 down varying the baits distance isnt an issue around here but if distance is necessary a clipped or loop should do the business

Make sure that your hooks are not too big (found this out the hard way at the weekend lol)

I'd have to say mackerel if you're targetting them. If there are large shoals of them, large uncooked prawns will pick out a few bigger ones from the shoal. 3 hook flapper. Keep it simple as they won't be bothered about fancy rigs. Size 1 hooks.

I have never went out and directly targeted them myself as of yet but I have caught them on mackerel, ragworm, sand-eel, lugworm and crabs when out fishing for other species. I don't think that they are particularly fussy and will feed on fairly much any bait that is available to them at the time. I know that they have also been caught using squid as well.

3 hook flapper keep it simple. They'll eat anything but I find rag worm the best
