abu 7000 synchro drag

i was recently given an old synchro drag by a family member, except i think its broken. the handle turns backwards and the spool moves forwards even when the locks on( as if the drag was loosened, not in free spool). any ideas?

I have a few Abu Synchro drag reels....check you have the drag set....how its meant to work is like this.....set the drag as you would a normal reel.....under pressure the reel will be as normal, but a 1/4 turn backwards on the handle will allow less drag and make it easier to pull line off...wind forward again and the drag comes back to the first setting.

They are a wee bit more compicated to work on than the standard Abu's, depending on the condition of the reel, the only person I could suggest for working on it would be Peter Coogan in England. PM me if you need his details.

If its in working order you have yourself a very good reel IMHO. Very good for Tope or any other fast moveing species.
