ive had my conoflex source for a few years now and even though my eyes are rust free my rods got more than a few scratches on it after its sterling service to me. is there anyway to make it look as good as new?

Rebuild it.Strip it,recoat it change the ecessories. If you cant do it by yourself or not confident to do it,look for a builder.

Never tried it personnaly some might be able to advise better. My mate tidied his old Nemesis Plus up with a tiny bit of T-cut on a cloth to give the rod a wipe down. He then sprayed it with wax polish and buffed it up.

I don't know if it will harm the rod but it certainly smartened up the appearance.

Care full when applying any solution on the blank as it maybe contain any solvent, this precaution are specially on graphite blank. The solvent will damage the blank structure by leaching out the epoxy resin that holding the graphite fiber together and will result a weak spot on the blank.
The simplest way to restore the looks and to hide all the nick and scratches on the blank is by applying a rod restorer or by recoating it with another layer of lite finish.

The touch-up car spray paints you buy in the likes of Halfords are ideal for painting rods...light sanding with wet-n-dry to make a key for the paint, 3 light coats and then 2 coats of spray varnish. it will be as good as new....I revamped a rod for Mr Green a few weeks ago, he will tell you how good a finish it has.

Those modern car paints are very flexible and wont crack or chip easy...they are meant for the plastic bumpers on cars don't forget.

The worse thing you can ever put on your rod is the likes of Pledge spray wax...it has silicone in it....that stuff will linger on the rod for ever...if you ever damage a guide and have it replaced, it will cause a bloom effect in the high build epoxy varnish....horrible stuff!! soap and water is all any rod needs to keep it clean.
