Tying line to multiplier

Is there a special knot that is used for tying your line to the reel its a level wind multiplier and how do you go about doing it. Also need to know how to join braid to mono. Have been fishing as years and never knew how to do these knots properly!! Although this is gona be the first time ive used braid had to see what all the fuss was about.

Use the arbor knot to tie the line to the reel,

and the albright knot to tie the two lines together, the bend goes into the monofilament and put about 10-11 turns on the braid and not just a few as the illustration shows. With the Albright it's important that both tags leave on the same side of the bend, you'll understand when you practice it.

Just a reminder...put a few layer/yards of mono to the spool before u spool in the braid.Spool in the mono then connect the mono to the braid,then u can spool on all the braid and put a mono leader to it.U dont want ur braid to slip in the spool and dig in each other.

Cheers lads just after putting it on. The reel was a 310gti penn picked up a nice combo at a tackle shop today. Penn powerstick, 310gti 16lb penn mono and 16lb tide cutter braid. got it for less than any uk mailorder.

On the subject of this braid would it be wise using braid for a 50lb+ setup fishing for the likes of conger and hopefully big bad skate!!

I use my multipliers from the shore and haven't ventured to trying braid on them yet as I'm still new to them and braid is supposed to be a nightmare for beachcasting until you're proficient, and even then a lot of people don't bother with it so I can't help you out on the braid setup. I've no doubt some of the boat lads will have an idea.

I have 26lb braid on one of my boat reels and find it really good. It really comes into its own when you are in deep water 200 ft plus. There is no stretch in the line at all and you are in much better contact with your rig.
I was out on the North Bank today and fished both braided line and mono.
The braid fished way better.

I find with braid though, if you get into a tangle it can be tricky to untangle it.

Sorry, I missed this one earlier. there are several good knots used to join superbraid to the mono leader such as the Albright, Bimini twist & Uni or even the double Uni. Always use a double thickness of braid for maximum strength and always tie them before you set foot in the boat !! On the other hand, if you do suffer a break at sea, I found an Australian knot a few years back which is easy to tie and stronger than most. Simply wind about 20 turns of SINGLE STRAND braid round one end of the mono, then tie 4 overhand knots in the twisted lines, pull all four legs to tighten, and trim the tag ends. It's so good , and so easy, that I always use it now as a matter of choice.
Regarding the 50lb outfit, I would be very wary of loading your 6/0 with superbraid : [a] it will hold bloody miles, but worse still [b] you always have the problem of catching the line between the edge of the spool and the reel frame. Better to go for a good quality low stretch mono, or even the old style dacron or terylene braid we used back in the 60s
