Right, how about posting your favourite fishing photo of the year/years gone by :
Post them here, give a couple of lines of explanation if necessary. I might even root for a prize for one of the better ones! We'll run this for a couple of weeks and see if we have demand for a regular comp (not necessarily fishing shots)
(Heading to have a look myself to get the ball rolling!)

No fish in the photo, but my favourite fishing pic. Taken at the end of a fantastic day flyfishing for sea trout in the Erne Estuary, Ballyshannon. As we were coming back in I looked back and saw the sunset reflected on the still water and took a quick snap (with a disposable!). Every time I see it it reminds me of a great day's fishing. Now have it printed on 40x30in canvas and hung in my living room

Its got to be this one from last year. The smile says it all really, a lovely blue (my first) near the end of the boat angling season crowned what had been a great year for me for new species and a new personal best for biggest ever fish too. Taken aboard the Clare Dragoon skippered by Luke Aston who really did the business for us last year.

best advice for catching species is girls dont like fishing and its hard to catch fish when you sell all your gear'
I took this close up of a spotted rays eye ,I 'd never really taken any notice of their eyes before ,now I check all different species and its amazing the differences depending on the enviroment they come from .

If someone shows you a mark to fish, respect it and dont pass it of as one of your own, dont tell every man and his dog about it.
got this shot of davy whilst wrasse fishing a rock mark in belfast lough just before sunset.
Also took this shot of a sea stack in the shannon estuary across from carrigolt a couple of years ago ,there is actually a perigine falcon sitting on top that I was trying to get a shot of before noticing how well the stack was profiled against the sun and zoomed out to get the whole shot .
