Umbrella casting. What a complete toss pot. That's just ridiculous.

i'd say that image is photoshopped but saying that the umbrella rig is big in some states (banned in others) across the pond. tournament anglers use them to fish 5 small shads for bass over there in an attempt to mimic a small shoal of baitfish. have to say i don't think it would be my cup of tea

it IS taking the pi@@ i.e. its only a joke and for a bit of craic, its a gimmick. ok so it might be realistically capable of catching a fish but its just not realistic to be using it all the time that rod couldn't handle too many fish if they hit those big(ish) lures its a laugh

Honestly lads they are used in places there meant to be pulled behind boat bit are used by anglers. Hate to be untying a know in them.
Its not a piss take although I agree it looks photoshopped. Also known as an alabama rig.

Why not just use a net or a stick of dynamite.

Take the pic down before the mack bashers get ideas. I can just imagine it on ballycotton pier, 5 lads with the umbrella rig and a string of 6 feathers hanging off each section.

Something very like it is used for tuna fishing in Donegal.
