lure fishining at night

hi im new to lure fishing and i have seen some photos were lads were spinning at night is it possible and is there any difference in lures etc

U don't need different lures as colour dosent really matter in the dark but if it's luminous or has a rattle might help ,also a shallower diver or surface lure would probably help as it's the outline is what they see when they see it from below ,hope this helps ,all you have to do now is find the fish good luck!

Black is best for fishing in the dark . I tried my silver sluggos one morning pre dawn ,not a nibble. I couldn't see the lure in the water . I changed over to a black jelly worm and caught 4 bass in quick succession ,I kept one or two .

thats good to know i have heard lads talking about the slug go and must pick some when im in waterford the guys tramore sell them i think will give them ago on tuesday thanks

I'm no expert when it comes to lure fishing at night but one small tip which works for me is if your using braid is to place a small plastic bead on your braid above the knot to your leader.
I find this really helps when fishing in the pitch dark as its very hard to judge how close your lure is on the retrieve and the bead stops the leader knot from slipping through the top eye which inevitable would slow down your next cast.

Hi insomnia, I'm no expert myself but have fished with lures down that way at night a few times. Heading down wexford/copper coast area tomorrow for a good session (the weather eh?!) and we'll be doing most of our fishing at night if the weather permits - all lures of course. High contrast lures seem to work well, black or white and yeah keep them near the surface so they can silhouette nicely from below. Another tip - slloooowww it all down

Some of our guests put a small chemical light on the their lures for some night pollack fishing and had good results. Never tried it myself but it makes sense.
