hi all,
Just to leave ye know..because of the ban i went out pollock fishing with a light setup that i would use normally for bass..

had great craic at a deep water rock mark..
no great size to them average about three pounds..
My buddy lost what looked like a really big fish..he said he couldn't hold it...
although hes new enough to this type of fishing..so i left him off with that comment..

had about 5 pollock on various methods..soft plastic shad..one up one down rigged weedless...sinking illex water monitor plug..varoius soft plastics...
i really enjoyed it and although i didn't have any wrasse i'm definately keeping this up for the ban.

I would recommend it to anyone with the sickness...ye know what i'm talking about..

Good man Barra 8) , the pollack will give a good account of themselves on the light gear. This month will be a long one!

Sounds like a bit of nice fishin Luanaigh, pollack averaging 3lb would do me for an evenings sport. As you say, on the light gear its good fishing. No pics?

i dont think its fair on pollock to treat them like a back up just because you cant fish for bass

they are a great species in their own right and bass are just another species to target, NOT the only species to target

Had Pollack to about 8lb during the week using a 10-40g lure rod (from a boat - don't have any 'boat' gear).

As the man said, some craic on a light setup, only trouble was getting deep enough, quick enough.
