dexters wedge vs spinning minnow......advice please :)

hey all...
hope this finds you well....
i took up lure fishing at the end of last summer but not getting out as much as id like because of work etc..... most of the time, ive been using a single minnow spinner, in various colours, from shiny silver to green and purples and blue...ive had moderate success with them, mostly pollock!...ive since bought myself a few dexters wedges but have yet to use them...
is there any particular technique in using them?..#
any help/tips would be greatly appreiciated...
