its the new 7ht mag. looks unreal.

look at this thread on another site. this guy is a great person to test this reel, he is totally trustworthy.

i hope posting this link is alright with the mods.

IMHO its way overpriced theres no way in hell i would pay 160 sterling for a reel that by the looks of it wont handle rough ground. i could be proved wrong though.

thanks very helpfull link, doesnt sound that guy got payd for his post :D , i think ill just get another abu orange

paddy has one i got it for him :D nice fishing reel , the handle isnt great but as a fool proof fishing reel its ok . i dont think any daiwa 7ht was designed for rough ground work  you would be much better with a new abu 7000 ct mag if thats the case :?: paddy said it was the smoothest reel he has ever used but it wont get much hardship from him  imo you would be better of buying an abu 65 mag of some sort or if you wanted a daiwa for casting a 7ht turbo red with a chris macey mag unit fitted would be a better option .

IMHO i think the reel with that system(magforce-V/Z) wasnt mean for distance(on the field)....its more suit for fishing....less hassle..less birtdie...the system have been around for quite sometimes.....the control is more refine than ordinary linear mag as in abu or others maker....theres a parts that is out of control by the user....u can control the mag power/distance but u cant control the inductor that will move near or far from the mag to effect breaking. On other mag system like linear mag, there no such collar or inductor....so the only control is the distance of mag....dont have to worry bout the moving inductor wch are moving in and out by centrifugal force.....for spinning application....i totally will use this ...better than shimano 4x4 SVS....in fact i am using the similar system(Mag-V,Mag-Z) for few years now...but for distance on the field....linear would be better.....
I have put the pic of my reel.....the inductor on the spool similar with the pic of 7HT Mag spool inductor in FM link....

I would agree with everything AG said 100%

After reading the whole post from the link given by FM.....i've come to a conclusion that its still too early to say that the reel wasnt fit for field use....

I remember have to struggle with the system the first time using it after using linear for sometimes.....everything seem to be not right....i lost distance when tossing my lure out....have problem casting heavy lure....more effort needed for distance...etc....but after sometimes i've got all my body tune for it....everything seem so smooth....no birdie....got more distance with less effort....etc....but then its on different ball game....lure fishing....not on the field for distance, chucking heavy lead.....gear set up 2 or 3 time the set up that i am using....only with the same breaking system....even a few shimano guys having problem using this system after converting using daiwa mag and got comfortable with them after sometimes.....so i think only time will tell....maybe after using it for sometimes.....the owner will familiarize with the characteristic of the breaking system....and who knows the greater distance can be achieve by this reel......still theoretically the spring tension that govern the movement of the inductor can be tweak to achieve higher peak rpm before the breaking can kick in for a better distance.....who knows????

got 7th red one about month ago, first fishing-tope,second fishing few good size codling on big tide run...third fishing- got "sound" in the reel then reeling in...shouldn't be so,casts still OK, so i ques you are right about rough ground

yea all the 7ht range i have found are just for clean ground,, very soft gears so im told but i still love em ,,,

the new 7ht-mag is a fantastic reel, i had it out for a few sessions over the hols and really like it, there is alot of breaking though for what id be using it for but as it was designed as a pure fishing reel i just cant fault it one bit, magnet settings from 10-3 has just too much breaking for wanging only from 3.5-2.5 is any good for me, i even took it down to the beach and cast directly into a very strong head wind (force5-6) with the mags on 7 and it just took all the sting out of it and gracfully landed with no birdys, fool proof really

Hi guys...
I saw a post on another forum(the one that posted by FM before) bout a few guys/caster trying to tweak/brainstorming on how the reel can be tweak to improve them on field.I think theres a few guys/caster here that registered there.

Here are a few idea and thing to consider by any caster that like to tweak/experiment/supertune the reel....

-oil and clean the inductor mechanism so that they can move smoothly and effortlessly....most common problem:the debris got inside...mix with oil...make the inductor stuck(not moving properly or smoothly)...and the brek wont work properly=birdie or lost in distance

-u can play around with the spring....make it stiffer....change to stiffer spring....make sure u have a spare spring....in case anything goes wrong...u still have the original that will ensure the reel still usable for fishing......

-upgrade the stock spool bearing to hier ABECS....dont know what the stock bearing ABECS rated....ZPI,VXB,TG Rocket????i am sure u distance caster more than familiar with this....

-I ve heard of a guys that try to machined the inductor tip to tappered it.He try to imitate the Magforce-v Type -R inductor design which are superior than the stock Magforce in term of performance....cast further and lighter stuff. This type of tuning is more costly....unless u have the extra set of spool assembly....can afford to order one....and i think its expensive.I think the idea here is to lessen the area/distance of area that mag acted on the inductor when its go in between the mag.More refine less breaking.

-theres no use to take one of mag ring out....the system work together with spool assembly.

-the block under the inductor....taking this out is a big no no....system cant work without this......

-put the mono mag on the reel.....????no point of doing it to this reel...u can do that linear mag to the more cheaper old 7ht or 7ht turbo....

The subject from the forum interest me.....cant wait what the result that guys will come out with.Cheeerrssws....

have 2 of these now,, im not by any means a caster but ive used multis for over 10 years and these are the most user friendly reels ive ever come acrose,,, hopefully there sturdier then the original 7ht,,,

croppy has one to and really loves it

croppy got the one with stabalizer wheels and tow hitch for easier transport
