I rooted out my reels to service and put new line on , one is an old Daiwa df90 and the other is a shimano bio master 8000 , I know the Daiwa is a bit old hat , but is the shimano as good as a modern day reel ?

Yeh the shimano reel is smooth compared to the old Daiwa , but I think they cast just as far , but maybe that's just me !!!!! Might try and pick up another shimano as I fish two rods all the time

some of the best distance fixed spool reels would be the diawa basia or shimano ultegra.would be hard to beat the line lay is superb on them.
