Hi, I'm looking for some advice please for my Dad. He's been fishing on and off for the last 70yrs and was an active member of the Hammond Lane SAC back in the 70s, don't know if they are still around. He has an Orkney Longliner 16' that he is thinking of selling. It's in great condition and comes with a 15hp Honda outboard engine, oars, anchor plus the trailer. It doesn't have a cuddy. Can anyone give me a ballpark figure please of what he might reasonably expect to get it. Thanks for your help with this. Eddie

That's a hard one to answer!
You'd be better off to consult a few websites to see what similar boats are making on the market. Have a look on DoneDeal, Apolloduck, Findafishingboat etc. and see what they are making. A lot depends on condition and age as well and of course asking prices do not always reflect the actual price paid. At a wild guess I'd say 4k would be in the higher range.

There are other things that people will want to know for example was it stored indoors when out of the water? This is important especially in older boats even ones made from fibre glass. Give it a thorough 'karchering' before you take any photos. Small repairs and replacements to key bits like the bearings in the trailer, the belts used to secure it to the trailer, a sanding and coat of yacht varnish on any wood, can all have a significant impact on value. Lastly, consider selling it in the spring rather than the autumn, as winter storage might be an issue for potential buyers. You just don't see yourself out in a boat in November, but you will in March or April... HTH ...

Hi Eddie,
Did you end up selling the boat?
