John Dory

Sat Sep 27, 2014 12:52 pm

Caught my first John Dory last weekend whilst drifting round St John's point, Killybegs.
Strange looking fella.
It was grunting at us when we took it on board.
Maybe they're caught regularly but I hadn't seen one before.

Great catch. Donegal bay does throw them up mostly later on every summer in july and august. Rubber eels and mackerel strips or both combined they usually take. Beautiful fish to eat :)
