winter boat fishing.........

hi lads just a little question on boat fishing in the winter. is it worth even going out and what would u get this time of year going out about 2 mile maximum. i never fished off the boat in the winter. but would like some info if possible before making the decision. id be considering going out between howth to greystones any info would be greatfully appreciated..... :)

supurdogs if you know where to fish for them' they are in very deep waters

He will have to travel more than two miles offshore if he wants to target them.

you would be kept busy with hordes of small whiting odd dogs on sandy ground codling and coalies in around the rough. and a possible chance of a few herring if you use small sabaki type feather rigs.

And i nearly forgot there is dozens of small dabs out there aswell :wink:

How are you ?
I'm on the West coast and there is good fishing in the Winter BUT the weather is against it.

Look at a few web sites, Met Eireann/wind or Magic Seaweed, click on UK & Ireland wind we find both good without being too tech.

Remember, Fresh in the winter is Strong in the Summer be careful & safe have a VHF.

Fishing can be great in the winter, just be carefull and watch the weather.
