conger rig

Im heading out this weekend with getting my first conger in mind.I was told to use a perk with a pennel rig.Would this be your main line connected to a swivel/snap connected to the top of the perk and a swivel connected to the bottom of the perk and to a long snood of 100lbs with 2 6/0 hooks ?

If this rig is right is it just left on the bottom or is it jigged every now and then ?

Use three down flowing trace about 7 feet overall length.
60 to 80lb mono with 4/0 or 5/0 hooks.
Put some tubing on the trace also and bait with side fillets of mackerel, frozen or fresh.
Don't strike the fish too quickly let the bite develop.
Leave still on the bottom , don't jig!
If you want to use a pirk bait it up and let it rest on the bottom.Personally I don't like pirks have lost too many fish off them.I have caught hundreds of congers using the gear mentioned above. (not boasting just giving you the benefit of my experience :) )
Good luck.

Cheers Fast, what do you mean when you say three down ?
How much tubing should I use and should I be using a boom also ?

About 4 inches of tubing above each hook.Use a boom(forgot!)
Three down means a flowing trace behind the weight.two loops and a hook on the end spaced about 2 feet apart.
