Colour Fish Finders

From experience can anyone tell me if colour fish finders are any benefit over the greyscale ones? i'm caught between a Garmin 140 and a 160c

hi i would not bother with the 140 or 160 but go for the 300c instead marinepartsdirect have them for 210 euro better screen it will show better structure and detail i you the 400c sounder and find it great

To be honest would you buy a black and white TV.

Once you get the grip of colour you'll wonder why you ever thought of B & W

This is what a ball of herring looks like on colour.
Pic 2 shows the end of the shole and the true depth

pic 1 shows the depth at 32.2 feet but the red section at the botton of the screen is the true depth. just lest than 55 feet.

I got a Garmin 340C with Dual Frequency tranducer for €199 in CH Marine, Cork, give them a ring, they might still have some in one of their stores in Irl or NI

I'm thinking of picking one of these up. Are they hard to fit. As of now we have no electronics in the boat so i just fish along reefs and gullies not knowing if there's anything down there. I usually come across fish but i can't help thinking my chances would be improved if i had a few of these type of gadgets plumbed into the mishka.

Easy to fit, you just put your transducer onto the transom, run a cable through, feed it to your power source and it splits off to your unit mount
