ICOM IC-M411 YA OR NAY

Hi lads,

I could keep this section of the site going myself with all the questions I’m throwing at you’s, so soz for being a pest,

About the radio !!! I been looking at this “ICOM IC-M411” DSC Radio and it seems to fit the type of radio I’m looking for ”Cheap” but good,

I have priced it on a web site €159.95 before post & packing, I would much prefer to buy it from a shop here in case I have a problem with it down the line

The thing I would like to know is are there any places around the country that sell this radio… I don’t mind travelling as long as there are a couple of good fishing marks near by,

Or if any of you have a link for a site where you’ve had a radio from and think said site are good for after care service,

Plus if you think I’m going after the wrong radio I would appreciate any help along these lines as well,

Great bit of info there cheers for taking the time, I will give the cork guys a ring tomorrow to see if they have it in stock.. And as you say .. I will for sure bring the rods along and contact one of the lads there to sort me a few crab,

The reason I couldn’t go to the radio show in limerick on Sunday is that’s the day I had the test for the SRC 1 & 2 Which in turn has me looking at what radio to get,

I couldn’t find any links to other sites that would give an address for shops that sold these radios so I’m grateful to you for taking the time to give me the info above,

Raymond Long is probably the best one of the above to deal with

There is a guy named Eddie Kavanagh in Bansha Co. Tipperary that might have some VHFs so maybe worth a telephone call to as he's not a million miles away.. He sells equipment supplied by both Longs and Gary O' Hanlon of SEC... PM me for his number if you need it. not many sea fishing marks near Eddie's though

Icom have a great reputation for quality VHF's. I have a trouble free (touches head...) M421. Grand radio the tri-watch is handy.
That said, if you are on a budget a Cobra seems to be a good set as well. There was a recall issue at one stage but I would say the new models are at the latest spec. I think that Mowhawk has one of these in his electronics suite. Is that so Jim? Worth buying?

I do indeed Jim, I actually have VHF's from 3 different stables Sailor, Icom, and Cobra My personal favorite would have to be Sailor but they are professional grade equipment and way over the top and too expensive for a small boat

The little cobra is every bit as good and I think better than an Icom and far less expensive.. The receiver sensitivity and audio quality is vastly superior to the Icom

The recall was more of a clerical issue the one I sent back after several years was perfect it was just missing the "CE" conformity mark required for licensing in Ireland, it's a pity they didn't tell us to just bin the old one ourselves
