This place is front Canary Island litlle south. I lived there when i was a child ( it was a spanish colony like India for UK ). Now Morocco has the administration of the territory but the saharian pople wants the independence lets see what hapens.
Here in Spain we call this fish Corvina is like a bass but biger ( can be 50 kgrs ) I think in english is called: Meagre.

Some nice fish there in the photos. The Corvina looks similar to the Mulloway (Argyrosomus hololepidotus) we get here in Oz.. think they are of the same family.
50kgs would be a huge fish! though probably wouldn't taste all that good.

Shade-fish, Bubbler, Bar, Jew-fish, Croaker, Salmon-Basse, Stone Basse, Sea-sheep, Herring Hog (name given also to the Porpoise), Sergeant Fish, Drumfish (US), Aigle. Meagre, Maigre (a mistake). (Sariagiz which means yellow mouth [Medit]), Granyoz [Turkey] Corvina [Portugal] (Croatian: Hama, Grb - grb means insignia, badge, and hama doesn't mean anything)

In the western Sahara and Mauritania you can find them until 80 kgr. And fish them surfcasting usually from 15 to 25 kgrs

80kgs! now that would be nice to catch, biggest i've heard caught since i came to australia is 45kgs from the beach but quite a few in the 10kg+ range.. I'm still trying as they don't seem to be that easy to catch around the Perth coast :cry:
