WAS OUT ON A SOUTH DUBLIN BEACH ON THURSDAY EVENING WENT DOWN FROM 10PM TO 5AM.
AT AROUND 02.00AM I NOTICED A FISHING TRAWLER COMING FROM THE NORTH JUST AFTER IT CAME INTO MY VISION WHEN IT PASSED THE ISLAND IT WAS GOING SOUTH AT TRAWLING SPEED.
THERE IS ORANGE LIGHTS OFF THIS BEACH TO KEEP SHIPS AWAY FROM SHALLOW WATER AND THE ISLAND THIS BOAT WAS ABOUT THE SAME DISTANCE ON THE FAR SIDE OF THE ORANGE LIGHT BUOYS AS FROM THE BEACH TO THE BUOY WHICH IS NOT FAR.
OVER THE LAST NUMBER OF WEEKS IVE NOTICE A LOT OF WEED AND EXTRA SAND WASHED UP ON LOW TIDE SPOTS IN SAME AREAS CLOSE TO WHERE IVE SEEN THIS BOAT WORKING AND WONDERED IF IT WAS CONNECTED AS SEA HAS NOT BEEN ROUGH OVER THE LAST NUMBER OF WEEKS IN THIS AREA TO WASH UP WEED/SAND IN MY OPINION AND EXPERIENCE OF WATCHING OVER THE YEARS IN ALL WEATHERS IN THE SAME AREAS.
i"VE NOTICE OTHER TRAWLERS AT BRAY ALSO WORKING CLOSE IN,IN THE LAST NUMBER OF MONTHS ALWAYS ONLY AT NIGHT . HAS ANYBODY ELSE NOTICED ANY THING AND IF SO SHOULD I CONTACT THE FISHES BOARD AND IS THERE A NUMBER YOU CAN RING AT SILLY O CLOCK IN THE MORNING WHEN I"M WITNESSING THESE SUSPECT E LEGAL FISHING BOATS.
WHATS THE MINIMUM FISHING ZONE IN MILES THESE BOATS HAVE TO KEEP FROM SHORE?

Razor clams is what there after and as far as I know it's not allowed in Dublin bay, which explains the late hour you seen them

Probably better to ring the SFPA. They would have control of these things.
Maybe try the office nearest to you. http://www.sfpa.ie/AboutUs/Contacts.aspx
